RCH is one of the very few places in the UK that specialises in short term convalescent and respite care. It exists to help post-operative and respite guests get better, recover mentally and physically, and return home refreshed, confident and capable. This niche offering is possible because RCH is a charity which is not constrained by grants or restricted budgets.
Affordable luxury
Because RCH is a not-for-profit organisation, it is able to subsidise the cost of each guest’s care by up to 50%, so you get an outstandingly high level of personal care and attention at an affordable price – and the almost limitless food budget provides fresh, nutritionally balanced, plentiful meals which are simply delicious!
Purpose built
RCH was built in 1897 for the sole purpose of providing a place to convalesce. Today it is one of the few remaining dedicated convalescent facilities in the country. With its recent multimillion pound refurbishment, it is a wonderful blend of modern facilities nestled within a striking historical building.
Outstanding location
The location of RCH, right on the sea front and within acres of gardens, was chosen in 1897 specifically for the healing benefits of the fresh sea air. Today research backs up the beneficial links between living by the sea and one’s health. It is truly a unique and outstanding location.
Like-minded guests
Because all the guests who stay at RCH are there to get better, there is an amazingly uplifting and positive atmosphere. The age range of our guests is broad which brings a realistic, balanced and positive feeling to the place. And whilst guests are free to be as involved as they want in the activities, it is rare that anyone leaves without making at least one new friend.
Time to care
We restrict the number of guests who visit RCH at any one time to ensure every member of staff can give each guest the time and attention they really need to get better. Whether it is to sort out a medical issue, play a game of cards or simply have a chat, our staff to guest ratio means we have the time to care.
