Accommodation

RCH is a majestic Grade II listed building set in acres of managed gardens which run down to the sea. The outstanding site was chosen in 1897 specifically for the healing benefits of the fresh sea air. Inside, there is a stylish, comfortable suite of communal rooms, private en-suite bedrooms, a state of the art medical provision and modern catering facilities.

Relaxing and comfortable bedrooms

Every bedroom has en-suite facilities and is designed for your comfort and ease of mobility. Some offer walk-in wet rooms for easier washing if you are less mobile. There are also a number of twin rooms if you would like to share with your partner or family. Many of the bedrooms have the most amazing views of the sea and all are decorated in peaceful, calming colours. There are plenty of drawers and hanging space for your clothes and accessories and we are very relaxed if you would like to personalise your bedroom at RCH with familiar belongings. The modern nurse call system installed in every bedroom uses the latest technology. This means you have instant access to a nurse for help or a reassuring chat whenever you need them throughout the day or night. If your visiting friends or relatives are travelling far and would like to stay the night, they will be made very welcome and charged only a nominal rate for their accommodation – Covid rules permitting.

Calm and comforting communal rooms

Blessed with outstanding far-reaching sea views from just about every window, the modern facilities and comfortable communal rooms are wonderfully cosy in the winter and provide a welcome escape from the heat in the summer. Guests have unrestricted use of the well-furnished, spacious lounges, the large conservatory facing the sea and the bright airy dining room. In addition, there is a comfortable television room and a very popular activity room. If you prefer not to use the magnificent staircase, lifts to all floors are available. Many guests like to walk down the impressive stairs but sensibly take the lift up! Whether you are seeking peace and quiet to read a book or spreading out to enjoy the group activities, there is plenty of space for everyone. By popular request, we have installed a dedicated laundry area just for our guests to use and free WiFi is available throughout the house.

Unique site with proven health benefits

The advantages of having a convalescent home by the sea were well known when RCH was built in 1897. Now a host of recent research by environmental psychologists have proven that people who live next to the sea are happier and healthier than average. They have also found that the sea is linked to better mental health and better recovery. So that guests can enjoy maximum benefit of such a unique site, a roomy outdoor terrace and delightful garden summerhouse are available. As well as the spacious gardens, there is a public park nearby and guests often enjoy visiting the local towns of Rustington and Worthing on foot or by private minibus.
